Android tablets are still a debatable option, while Google is narrowing the gap between its own tablet app range and the iPads, the market share for Android tablets over $400 is small, not affecting the iPad Air.
However, there have been a few shows of excellence in the crowded Android tablet world, the original Xperia Tablet Z was one of our favorites in 2013, despite not gaining much commercial success.
@evleaks, a top source in the past for leaks and rumors, has revealed another new finding, the Xperia Tablet Z2 specs. This will be the second generation 1o-inch Android tablet from Sony, looking to expand on their original device.
The specs step up to the 2014 table, starting with a 1920 x 1200 Triluminous display, 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 3GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage with microSD expansion and an 8MP rear camera.
The Triluminous display should be something worth checking out, the new technology allows for much more color accuracy and deeper color density and has been tried out previously on the Sony Xperia Z Ultra.
Like the rest of the Xperia line, the Tablet Z2 will be waterproof. We are sure Sony will unveil the table in a bath of water or something similar, just to reaffirm the tablet is in fact waterproof.
The Xperia Tablet Z2 should come with the latest version of Android KitKat 4.4, underneath Sony’s own custom UI. The custom UI Sony ships on their tablets is not ideal, but better than Samsung’s TouchWiz in many areas.
The Sony Xperia Tablet Z2 should be coming to Mobile World Congress later this month, alongside the Xperia Z2 smartphone. We believe Sony will try to make a big break into the United States market, possibly aligning the smartphone and tablet with the PlayStation Now cloud gaming network, to entice a younger audience.
